Tells you what to do next in Vienna — in the right order, in your language.
Privacy statement
Wegweis is an independent guidance tool. It is not affiliated with the City of Vienna, the Austrian government, or any official body. The checklist you see is assembled deterministically from a verified knowledge base — not written freely by a chatbot.
- Your questions and answers are not stored by default.
- No IP address is logged beyond the duration of your request.
- No account is required to use Wegweis.
- No third-party analytics run on pages where you enter queries.
- Nothing is shared with government authorities.
Your query text is kept only in two explicit cases, and both are surfaced to you:
- You tap “Something's wrong” on a checklist — the query and the response it belonged to are stored anonymously so the knowledge base can be corrected.
- Wegweis has no verified answer for your situation — the query is auto-submitted so we know what to add next. The UI tells you this happened.
Stored feedback is kept for 180 days and then deleted automatically.
To understand which Vienna process your question is about, your query text is sent to Anthropic for a brief structured-classification step. The model returns only a short list of categories (which topic, which language, whether the question is ambiguous) — never prose, never office addresses, never form names. The reply you see is then assembled from the verified Wegweis knowledge base and its source metadata, not written freely by a chatbot. Anthropic processes the query under no-training terms and does not retain it for model training.
Obvious prompt-injection attempts and a small list of out-of-scope baits are filtered out locally before any classification call, so they never leave our server. Hosting providers may still process standard technical request data (e.g. routing information) while the site is served.
This tool provides general guidance only and does not constitute legal, immigration, or financial advice. Always verify information directly with the relevant authority before acting on it.
