• Wegweis does not store the text of your questions, except in the one case described under “When your question is stored”.
• Wegweis does not write your IP address to its logs, usage records or feedback records. Cloudflare, which hosts Wegweis, uses it to deliver your request, and Wegweis uses it to limit how often feedback can be sent.
• No account is required to use Wegweis.
• No analytics scripts run in your browser.
• Nothing is shared with government authorities.

• When you rate a checklist (for example with “Something's wrong”), only your rating and a reference to the answer you saw are stored — not your question.
• When Wegweis has no verified answer for your situation, the text of your question is submitted automatically so we know what to add next. The app tells you when this happens. The record contains no IP address and is not linked to an account.

Stored feedback is kept for 180 days and then deleted automatically.

To understand which Vienna process your question is about, the text of your question is sent to Anthropic for a brief classification step. The model returns only structured categories (such as the topic, the language, and the circumstances it recognised, like “arriving with a child” or a child's age) — never prose, never office addresses, never form names. The reply you see is then assembled from the verified Wegweis knowledge base and its source metadata. Anthropic does not use your question to train its models, and deletes it within 30 days unless it must keep it longer to enforce its usage policy or to comply with the law.

Obvious prompt-injection attempts and a small list of out-of-scope requests are filtered out on our server before any classification, so they never leave it. Our hosting provider Cloudflare processes standard technical request data (such as your IP address and routing information) while delivering the site and the service.

To keep Wegweis working, a few technical records are kept with Cloudflare, which hosts Wegweis. None of them contains the text of your question, your IP address, your browser or device details, or your location.

• Error and performance logs (up to 7 days): which processing path answered (for example a checklist, a follow-up question, or “no verified answer”), technical status codes, timing, error codes, and which Wegweis API endpoint was called. For feedback, they also record your rating, its reason, and whether question text was attached. They do not record what your question was about.
• Usage records (up to 3 months): one record per request with the time, whether a verified answer was found, technical status codes, and timing. For questions, it also holds the topic category (for example “school enrolment” or “asylum application”) and the language; feedback records hold neither. We use them to see which topics and languages need more content.
• Short-term answer cache (up to 6 hours): to answer repeated questions faster, Wegweis keeps a one-way fingerprint of the question, the checklist it produced, and the circumstances the classifier recognised (for example “arriving with a child”, a child's age, or “asylum seeker”). The fingerprint does not contain the text of your question.
