Wegweis is an independent guidance tool. It is not affiliated with the City of Vienna, the Austrian government, or any official body. The checklist you see is assembled deterministically from a verified knowledge base — not generated by a chatbot on the hot path.
What we do not collect
- Your questions and answers are not stored by default.
- No IP address is logged beyond the duration of your request.
- No account is required to use Wegweis.
- No third-party analytics run on pages where you enter queries.
- Nothing is shared with government authorities.
When your question is stored
Your query text is kept only in two explicit cases, and both are surfaced to you:
- You tap “Something's wrong” on a checklist — the query and the response it belonged to are stored anonymously so the knowledge base can be corrected.
- Wegweis has no verified answer for your situation — the query is auto-submitted so we know what to add next. The UI tells you this happened.
Stored feedback is kept for 180 days and then deleted automatically.
What leaves our server
Checklists are built from the Wegweis knowledge base and its source metadata. The current query flow does not forward your question to a general-purpose chatbot to answer freely. Hosting providers may still process standard technical request data (e.g. routing information) while the site is served.
